Michael Quantrell

Michael Quantrell is a dedicated Captain with more than two decades of experience in yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. Throughout his career, he has managed multimillion-dollar yacht refits and overseen deliveries along the East Coast. His leadership has been tested in demanding conditions, including navigating through Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017, where his steady approach ensured safety and operational success. His connection to the water began early in life while growing up in Camden, Maine. As a child and young adult, he spent much of his time sailing or skiing competitively. Michael earned three medals at the Junior Olympics, including a bronze and a silver in the Laser Class Division. His professional sailing experience took him to programs in New Zealand, New England, and England. In high school, he excelled in skiing and later competed for ten years in Friday night lights skiing events in Maine. While living in Florida, he continued to compete, winning all three qualifiers in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, in addition to securing victories in smaller races. At just 18 years old, he began working professionally as a yacht Captain, managing vessels between 20 and 120 feet and captaining yachts up to 112 feet, most recently working aboard a 100-foot ship. Quantrell has overseen complex yacht refits, transforming vessels into refined and fully functional assets. His responsibilities have included delivering yachts from Mexico and across the United States, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the East Coast. For nearly five years, he has owned and operated Ox Eye Marine Corporation, where he manages multiple yachts between 40 and 112 feet along the Eastern Seaboard, throughout the Bahamas, and across the Caribbean. His company offers comprehensive management services such as project oversight, crew placement, refits, systems analysis, overseas shipping, sales, and show participation. His notable roles include serving as Captain for a 96’ Broward for 18 months, where he managed a $300k refit, led crew operations, maintained compliance with regulations, and coordinated travel and logistics. Michael also captained a 90-foot Offshore for two years, leading a multimillion-dollar refinance and refit that brought the vessel to optimal condition. His work has also included delivery operations for a 112’ Westport, managing estates alongside yacht responsibilities, and serving on various other vessels, including a 59’ Herreshoff, where he oversaw racing and crew training. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys time on the water, caring for his dogs, and being with loved ones.
