Sean Mannix is a dedicated law enforcement professional with 36 years of experience in public safety. He has held multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Chief of Police in Austin and Chief of Police in Cedar Park, Texas. Throughout his career, he focused on enhancing policing strategies, improving officer training, and fostering strong community leadership. After retiring in 2020, he continued his service to the public as the Statewide Traffic Incident Management Coordinator for the Texas Department of Transportation. Sean was born in California as one of five children. From a young age, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, influenced by his father, who was also an officer. At 18, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, where he developed the leadership skills and strong work ethic to guide him throughout his career. He graduated with honors from Excelsior College with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Homeland Security from American Military University. Sean is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Leadership Command College, and the Senior Management Institute for Police and completed the LAPD West Point Leadership Program. After completing his Marine Corps service, Sean returned to Alameda, California, where he began his law enforcement career. At just 20 years old, he became the youngest officer at the Alameda Police Department. He spent the early years of his career handling patrol duties and responding to emergencies, building the foundation for his future success. In 1993, Sean moved to Austin, Texas, where he joined the Austin Police Department. He advanced through the ranks over the next 20 years, becoming Assistant Chief. His leadership contributed to the success of various initiatives, including crime reduction through the COMPSTAT model, expanding community outreach, and strengthening partnerships with federal agencies like the FBI and DEA. Sean also worked in divisions like the Organized Crime Division and the Central Bureau, which focused on crime prevention and public safety. In 2013, Sean became the Chief of Police for the Cedar Park Police Department. During his tenure, he introduced several key initiatives to improve the department, including community policing, officer training, and de-escalation programs. His leadership led to the department becoming one of the region's most desirable workplaces, known for its diversity and strong community trust. After retiring in 2020, Sean Mannix continued his involvement in law enforcement by serving as a board member for Sigma Tactical Wellness, an organization that promotes the health of first responders. He also supports Williamson County Crime Stoppers, helping to solve crimes and enhance public safety. Outside of his professional career, he is a devoted family man. Retired Chief Sean Mannix has been married to his wife for many years, and together, they have four daughters. Sean enjoys outdoor activities, including aviation and fishing, which help him relax and unwind. He is also passionate about reading and lifelong learning, always seeking new knowledge to stay sharp.
